As i was getting prepared for the big event i had to chose my Godparents. Godparents are the sponsers of the event in this case my first communion but they also have responsibility, so i had to be very careful about whom i picked. The couple that i picked are special to me because my dad has known them for a long time and they have no children, so we, including my brother and sister, have been special to them they have the responsiblity of making sure i stay out of trouble and have a good religios contact.

Preaparations began early Saturday morning May 17, 2008. My parents were busy preparing food, drinks, setting tables, and decorating. I was helping in the little that i could but i was nervous. I was asked to shower and get ready because my church ceremony was in one hour. My suit included black pants, white shirt, black tie, a bow on the side of my arm and a rosary with a book. Everyone was ready and waitng for me, pictures were taken as we departed to church.

At the church we meet with my godparents more pictures were taken and the ceremony started.As church went on i realized that i was actually payng attention to the ceremony. The priest asked several questions to the boys and girls because we were about 60 of us and i also knew the answers. As communion approached, i felt special. I was going to recieve the body and blood of God in the format of a piece of bread and wine. Each one of us has a turn one by one and plenty of space between each other so that everyone had a moment to take pictures and videotape. Finally it was my turn. I could see my family looking at me, i felt nervous but i also had a lot of peace, and felt very special.

After taking Communion i went back to my seat and said a prayer to myself. The church sevice ended shortly. I took pictures with my parents, godparents, family, and friends. The church provided a small reception that included pictures with the priest, cake and some punch, but i was ready to go home to take my clothes off especially my tie.

My reception was held at my house. All my close family was there, some friends but mostly family. My godparents were also there. My parents prepared carne asada tacos and adovada tacos. Eveyone was having a good time laughing, talking, eating and taking pictures, pictures and more pictures. As everyone was finished eating cake and desert, then came the presents and goodbyes.

That night as i layed in bed, many things came to my mind. My first communion was a very special day i gave thanks to my parents but mostly God for letting me be a part of him. I had a very good sleep.
